Morning!
We broke through the dead zone—and it reminded me how important energy and enthusiasm are.
VAMPIRES UPDATE
As I write this, we have five days left and are just $800 away from funding!
On the limited-rewards side, there’s now just one spot left to be drawn into Fernando and my next book as an alien!
Claim any reward tier you want, then look for the reward in the add-on menu.
You can still grab some killer covers—both standard and metal (!)—collectible pins, my back catalog, and more.
ON MY MIND
Friday was a big breakthrough for the campaign, and I can point to where it all started: my live interview with Al Mega from Comics Crusaders.
Al’s enthusiasm for indie comics and creators is off the charts. The fifty minutes I spent with him was the injection I needed for the final week of this campaign.
I met Al about seven years ago at FanExpo Boston, and he quickly adopted me as one of his people. He’s graciously hosted me multiple times and spread the word about whatever I was working on.
After seeing the campaign not move for days in a row, I watched it go up the minute Al and I started talking.
It was a real-time reminder about the power we have to lift up the friends, people, and creators we enjoy.
It doesn’t have to be a podcast like Al’s. It can be a post, a repost, or good ole word-of-mouth.
All it needs to be is honest and enthusiastic. That’s it.
And at this level, any new connection makes a real difference—every ounce of support matters. I promise you!
That’s why I started the “Cool Things To Support” section. We are the caretakers of our ecosystem.
So, love what you love and love it loudly!

HENRY
The evening turned troubling tonight. Henry stole a piece of pizza. Stole it RIGHT off the plate that was next to me.
Again…I promise you…WE FEED HIM!

COOL THINGS TO SUPPORT
Fight Forever: The Ballad of Kevin and Sami
This one’s a little different. I LOVE professional wrestling, and two of my favorite performers are Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens.
These two real-life best friends have been wrestling with and against each other for over 20 years, from the smallest of venues to the biggest stadiums around the world.
Author J.J. McGee, a professor at Aichi Shukutoku University in Japan with a doctorate in rhetoric, has put together a book that details their story through the storyline of their matches, like the novelization of a movie.
She also runs one of my favorite wrestling social feeds, Mithgifs. Her posts are insightful, thoughtful, and (using the word of the moment) enthusiastic. She LOVES Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens.
I can’t wait to read a deeper dive into something she and I love so much.
If this sounds like you, too, this is a great way to support JJ’s book.

UNTIL NEXT TIME
I hope you have a great Sunday and spend some time doing what you love.
All the best! Make the thing!
You gotta be careful with pizza!
I don't detect a single regret in Henry's expression. 🔍👀
